English 1859. A fascinating collection relating to the African War between 1858 and 1860, including three letters addressed to Madrid and Barcelona: one with the date stamp EJERCITO ESPAÑOL EN AFRICA (Spanish Army in Africa) in red, another with the mark on the back EJERCITO DE AFRICA / PRIMER CUERPO / EM (Army of Africa / First Corps / EM) in blue (the first time we have seen it), and another with a drawing of a soldier; a circular calling up reservists, as well as replacement data, telegrams, and bulletins from the conflict; a letter franked with 2 reales from 1860 with the Anthem of the Basque Tercios; a letter franked from Barcelona and addressed to Tetouan; and a letter franked with 4 cuartos from 1855 addressed to a soldier in Malaga.
