Durante la Guerra Civil este Acorazado Británico estuvo haciendo patrullas de "No Intervención" por las costas españolas, en el mes de Febrero de 1937, estando fondeado frente al puerto de Valencia, es alcanzado por un proyectil del bando republicano durante un ataque aéreo del bando sublevado hacia posiciones republicanas.
